Jameson’s Irish Bar reopens in West St. Paul, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Jameson’s Irish Bar has reopened in West St. Paul.

The restaurant and pub, the former Cherokee Tavern on Smith Avenue, had been converted from the previous concept during the pandemic.

Owner Brian Rubenzer opened the restaurant in fall, but when pandemic restrictions were reinstated, he closed it again.

Now he’s giving it another go, with a menu of pub favorites like burgers, walleye and chips, bangers and mash, and more.

There’s also event space that can accommodate up to 200 people, and he’s installing a dog-friendly patio with 600 square feet of Astroturf that will be open by the end of March.

Cherokee Tavern Is Now Jameson’s Irish Bar

Walking up to Jameson’s Irish Bar (formerly Cherokee Tavern) on Smith Avenue South in West St. Paul, I noticed a Little Free Library attached to the nonchalant brick exterior. As I passed by a few empty patio tables surrounded by pink, yellow and orange flowers, the Minnesota State Capitol building made an appearance in the distance.
